How to Remove Anti-Spy Soft

Antispyware Soft, often referred to as Anti-Spy Soft, is a rogue fake anti-virus application usually planted on computers by hackers or criminals using a Trojan horse program or by tricking users into downloading and installing the malware utility. The fake anti-virus program produces false malware detection warnings, annoys you with prompts to purchase a utility to remove infections and prevents legitimate applications from running. Antispyware Soft masks itself from most anti-virus programs and can be difficult to remove. Consequently, if your computer has an Antispyware Soft infection, you must use some specialty tools to remove it.

Instructions
1. Press "Windows-I" and then click "Change PC Settings | General | Restart Now | Advanced Startup." Wait for the computer to restart and display the "Choose an option" menu and then click "Startup Settings."

2. Select "Safe Mode with Networking" and then wait for Windows to boot in Safe Mode and display the log in screen. Enter your username and password and then press "Enter." Wait a few seconds for Windows to display the desktop -- you will not see the Start screen in Safe Mode.

3. Launch Internet Explorer -- even if you normally use another browser. Click the "Gear" icon and then select "Internet Options." Click the "Connections" tab and then click the "LAN Settings" button.

4. Disable the option labeled "Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)" by clicking the check box to remove the check mark. Click the "OK" button to save the changes and close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window.

5. Open a new browser tab or window and then navigate to the BleepingComputer website (link in Resources). Download RKill and save it to your computer.

6. Open File Explorer and then click "Downloads" in the navigation pane. Scroll down to and double-click the RKill program file and then wait a few minutes for the utility to scan your system and shut down any background processes associated with Antispyware Soft or any other malware applications that might be on your computer.

7. Navigate to the Malwarebytes.org website and download the latest version of MalwareBytes Antimalware to your computer (links in Resources).

8. Open File Explorer and then double-click the Malwarebytes setup file. Accept the user agreement and then follow the remaining prompts to Malwarebytes. If the setup wizard prompts you to restart the PC, click "No, I'll restart the computer later." While you need to restart the computer immediately after installing Malwarebytes, using the "Restart Now" option reboots the computer in normal mode. To remove the Antispyware Soft infection, you must restart the computer manually in Safe Mode.

9. Restart the PC in Safe Mode again and then launch the Malwarebytes Antimalware. Click the "Update" tab and then click "Check for Updates." Wait a few minutes for Malwarebytes to download and install the latest malware and virus pattern definition updates for the scanner.

10. Click the "Scanner" tab and then select "Perform full scan." Click the "Scan" button and then wait for Malwarebytes to scan your PC for malware including the Antispyware Soft infections. Depending on the amount of data, number of applications on the hard drive and the speed of your computer, the full system scan may take up to several hours to complete.

11. Click "OK" after Malwarebytes completes the scan of your computer and then click "Show Results." Ensure that all of the detected files have check marks next to them and then click "Remove Selected." Wait a few seconds for Malwarebytes to remove the infected files from your computer and display a log with the scan and removal results.

12. Close the log file and then exit Malwarebytes Antimalware.

13. Shut down the PC and then start it in normal Windows mode. Launch the Malwarebytes again and perform another full system scan to ensure that Antispyware Soft is no longer present on the computer.
